2022 HSC Academic Results

Posted : 15 December 2022

We warmly congratulate the Class of 2022 on their outstanding performance in the Higher School Certificate (HSC).

Ravenswood has a long history of academic excellence and our 131 HSC students, together with our 30 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma students, have continued this tradition, applying themselves with great commitment, agility and focus, while navigating their final three years of school through a global pandemic.

As an IB World School, 30 of our Year 12 students will not know the results of their IB examinations and coursework until 3 January 2023. Today’s release of the HSC results forms only part of the picture of Ravenswood’s 2022 Year 12 results.

Highlights of Ravenswood's performance include:

  • Our 131 HSC students performed with excellence across 45 courses, with 75% of their results in the top two achievement bands;
  • Congratulations to Maria Yang, who achieved the highest possible ATAR of 99.95. Maria was one of just 48 students across the state who achieved this ATAR;
  • Congratulations to Zhen (Phoebe) Xu who was recognised in the Top Achievers in Course, placing 5th in NSW for Music Extension;
  • 5 students were recognised in the All-Round Achievers list. These students achieved results in the highest band possible in 10 or more units. Congratulations to Sophia Barnard, Francesca Boardman, Robyn Clark, Zhen (Phoebe) Xu and Maria Yang;
  • 78 students were recognised in the Distinguished Achievers list (a result in the highest band for one or more courses), with 198 mentions between them – a tremendous achievement;
  • All students who studied the following four subjects received a result in the top band: Chinese Continuers, Chinese Extension, German Extension and Music Extension;
  • In 18 subjects, all students achieved results in the top two bands;
  • 45% of students achieved in the top band in Mathematics Advanced and Mathematics Extension courses, our highest results since 2019;
  • 36% of students achieved in the top band in English Advanced and English Extension courses;
  • 9 students have been nominated for HSC Subject Showcases with three students selected for their Showcases:
    • ARTEXPRESS (Visual Arts) - Mila Piccardi
    • ENCORE (Music Composition) – Zhen (Phoebe) Xu
    • OnSTAGE (Drama) Individual Project - Eloise Chia

'These results are also a credit to our extraordinary Year 12 teachers who have shown great dedication to our girls, as well as to all the teaching and non-teaching staff who go above and beyond in supporting our students to fulfil their potential and flourish here at Ravenswood,' said Principal Mrs Anne Johnstone.
